"I went to San Miguel last week, we were in fits of wwwith the tall waiter trying to talk to the permanantly smiling Peruvian waiter. the staff seem to have the balance just right, makeing us feel like personal friends although this was our first time we will be real regulara now. The spanish liqueur and brady on the house made this a certainty "

"I have been coming to san miguel for many years so decided to come for my birthday on 11th june 2008 to find it has new management and new staff, this will be the last time i come here. the food was not as nice, it was considerably less and i came away hungry. the waiters were hovering around our table talking in spanish not realising that my girlfriend is peruvian and can understand everything, i found out later that they were all talking down about my family and were basically taking the mickey!! not reccommended!!"

Jeanette Nicholas said on 08th March ... "San Miguel serves decent tapas, but it is the type of local restaurant that knows that whatever dreadful service it metes out to customers, because there isn't a great deal of competition, there will be more behind the people who don't come back. We just walked out after waiting 35 minutes for a table and watching couple after couple walk past us being seated after just turning up. You might have a good time if they like the look of you, but good luck if they don't! We won't be coming back, but do they care? Course not!"

dil said on 15th February ... "I have visited San Miguel three times now. I was very happy the first two times, however on my visit to San Miguel on the 15th of Feb, 2008 for Valentine's day we were disappointed with the cold food, Management not looking bothered, paying service charge without being given the option to not pay whilst paying on credit card. It took 50 minute's for our main meal to arrive, where I found that my potatoes (cold potatoes) and carrots looked as if they were thrown on the plate. I will not be back for a while."

Jo said on 13th February ... "We went to San Miguel for my birthday meal and it was brilliant. The staff coped well with 11 of us and the waiter was very entertaining, joking with us and generally making us all feel very welcome. The food was great and the wine kept on flowing nicely. I even got a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday from the waiters! All in all, I was made to feel very special and would highly recommend it for a good night out with friends."

paul simons said on 18th December ... "My wife and I went and had a meal on a Sunday when they had the Live Flemeco
and Guitarist and it was excellent.
The service was good, I had a selection of fish tapas and can highly recommend
the Calamari. My wife and I then enjoyed a large Paella which we shared.
I have already booked a table for the Flamenco in January. Hope they keep up the
good work !!!"

Claire Hill said on 04th December ... "I love coming to San Miguel - Staff are friendly and great on the service.
The food is amazing, and I could enjoy it over and over again.
I recently visited for my birthday, with a group of 15 friends, and the service was outstanding.
Decor is nice, although sometimes can be a bit dark - the food and the cocktails make up for it.
Price is very reasonable too!

Martin Eatough said on 24th October ... "You need to understand the change of management at San Miguel. It used to be run by handsome, friendly twins Miguel and Pedro who left for Chelsea a couple of years ago. The new guys are doing their best and the food and decor is as good as ever. I have been there over twenty times, the welcome is always warm and only once had one poor dish. Do try their Crema Catalana dessert and the amazing Pacheran liqueur (blueberry and aniseed)."

a spanish girl said on 07th October ... "I am Spanish and I went to this place once and I found the food quite average and poor, if you can call it spanish at all! There are some tapas that I didn't even know existed and also very expensive. I mean, you want to eat out, it's fine, you want spanish food, you better find another place."

Nadia said on 15th September ... "My boyfriend and i went here for a saturday night meal. We had not booked, but we went early and were lucky to get a table immediately.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly (perhaps a little too quickly?) but was very tasty.
The dessert that i had was not as good as the main meal and a little overpriced for what it was.
Overall however, a reasonably priced meal. "

Sarah said on 18th June ... "I read some of the reviews about San Miguel and I'm very disgusted with some people.
How can you complain about the service there, it's just great , especially those two waiters Albion & Ben, they are very professional and caring.
Always a pleasure to go there."

kelly & john said on 18th June ... "We went to San Miguel last month and what a good choice. As soon as we went in we were greeted by a trim tall waiter with a lovely smile.
We sat down and we got great service from then on.
The food & wine we were recommended was spot on -delicious, but above all the service & attention we received was something we have never experienced before
Our waiter was just too professional to wear an apron. He made our evening with the rest of the team.
Excellente...

Lucy said on 08th January ... "Myself and my boyfriend visited here on a recent visit to Greenwich. We decided on eating at the San Miguel Tapas Bar as it looked to have a good atmosphere and looked busy. We were greatly dissapointed.
The food was poor, the potato bravas were just cooked potato with what seem like tinned tomatoes in the bottom of the dish. The staff were unfriendly and looked like they wanted us out as soon as we had finished eating to make way for others. If you know good food and good tapas this place is best avoided."

Aspascia said on 10th October ... "I went to San Miguel on a weeknight with a friend, who had been before and recommended it.
We hadn't booked, but being mid-week it was rather quiet and we were greeted at the door and seated immediately. Perhaps it was because they had little else to do, but the staff were very attentive (sometimes almost too much so!) and very friendly. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious.
I live in Greenwich and so have many restaurants to choose from, but this one will certainly become one of my favourites. I have seen it exceedingly busy on weekends, so it might be a wise move to book ahead in this case.
Handy hint: if you're a desert fiend like me, you must try the Baileys Creme Brulee."

Sami Portelli said on 01st October ... "As a resident of Greenwich, I have tried many restaurants in the area but undoubtedly the San Miguel Tapas Restaurant has the worst customer service in Greenwich.
A friend and I booked well ahead of time a table in this restaurant only to find ourselves waiting half an hour for our table. We stood waiting for our table with no notice from the staff to how long we were going to wait. The lack of hospitality made the wait long and tedious but we were determined to find out what the food was going to be like. Eventually we noticed that people who did not book a table were being seated before us and promptly asked why this was so. The rude Head of Service said that it “could be 5min, 10min or 50min so what do you want me to do”. We explained how we had booked a table and would like to know how much longer we had to wait. Not longer than 30seconds later we were shown to various tables which were available and were confused why we weren’t seated sooner.
We sat down and ordered from the menu determined to make the most of it all. We ordered a starter and several small tapas dishes for our main course. Our starter arrived and we began to relax. Not even half-way through our starter, our main course arrived. What was all this about? We were confronted with all our food with no break between the starter and the main course. Since we could not let our main course get cold we abandoned the starter. Our little table was completely cluttered with dishes.
In the end the food was nothing special, in fact it replicated what you would get in Tesco… quick dishes warmed up in a microwave one waitress joked lightly. Not knowing whether to take this seriously it did explain the quick turn around and how the sea food based dishes we ordered tasted more fresh than the other meat dishes. Should I return to this restaurant I would only order the sea food based dishes.
The waiting service were over worked, no smiles or hospitality could be seen. The lack of management of the floor was unforgivable and clearly more staff would create a more positive service.
Finally our table was cleared and we were given our dessert menu. Keen to try out one of their desserts, we waited another half an hour before someone came to take our order. We could not believe the time management in the restaurant and ordered nothing. Who knew how long we would have to wait for that. We asked for our bill and would you believe it they were prompt. Within 1minute we had paid our bill and began to leave.
As we left the Head of Service rudely said “Is that it then?” and we promptly left.
San Miguel Tapas Restaurant is not a place I would recommend unless you are brave enough to face and experience the lack of customer care. It is not a restaurant for families and certainly not for a romantic meal. There are several restaurants in Greenwich, all which have a decent service to the paying customer. Will we ever return to San Miguel Restaurant? No way."

Estela said on 21st August ... "I would never bother to write a review about a restaurant but finally have found a decent Spanish Tapas restaurant in South East London.
Having a Spanish mother, I know what is good authentic Spanish food and finally I don''t have to travel half of London to find it. The food is excellent, atmosphere is brilliant - not 100% sure if cooked by spaniards but really good wholesome fun all the same and it doesn''t cost an arm and a leg!
PS - Book before going!"

Jonathan said on 28th June ... "The first time I went here it was because I couldn't get a table anywhere else, however it was definately a good move on my part. Despite having to wait 15 mins for a table ( a good sign) we were looked after while we waited with a great imported spanish beer.
Once seated the service was great. Not pestering despite how busy it was, and very friendly. We had a fantastic meal of tapas which we didn't have to wait too long for and was full of great flavours. And the wine that was suggested by the waiter was spot on and reasonaby priced.
Overall it was a lovely experiance and one that I have repeated since and once again not disappointed. Try it and I'm sure you'll agree."
